Northwest Des Moines (NWDM) Democrats represents voters in Des Moines precincts 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 33, 34, 35 and Webster Township, mostly in the area known locally as Beaverdale. We work to inform community members and get Democrats elected to local, state and federal offices. NWDM Dems are known for their politically active neighborhood, “Obamadale.”

We are currently recruiting volunteers who want to help with our “Neighbor to Neighbor” program. We provide block captains with a list of Democrats on their block. Captains then contact those voters to remind them about upcoming elections and important voting deadlines. Our goal is to build a strong community of democrats throughout Northwest Des Moines. In addition to monthly meetings, NWDM Dems host caucuses and special events aimed at:

• Informing voters about important issues and activism opportunities

• Encouraging Iowans become more involved in our democracy

• Helping local, state and federal Democratic elected officials and candidates to meet our passionate community members

• Creating a blue community in a red state
